Ladies are badasses.
My closest friends have: worked for NASA, taught English in Hong Kong, have worked as nurses in prisons, head departments for special education in schools, worked in non-profits, spent their time helping girls rock and roll, won incredible trials, raised children, LIKE HAD CHILDREN FROM THEIR BODIES AND RAISED THEM AND THEY ARE STILL ALIVE, hiked the Appalachian Trail – like the WHOLE thing?!, completed triathlons, moved to places they’ve never been, weathered divorces and adultery, created things, written poetry, written songs, performed in ballets, passed the bar exam, sang in operas, ran marathons, spoken up, questioned those in charge, cried, humbled themselves, and dealt with me.
Being a woman is such a gift. Being able to share this experience with other women is so damn incredible.
I want to spend all of my time bragging about how badass, how strong, how brave and resilient, and beautiful women are, even when every single thing in the world is against them.
I have never been more proud to be something, I have never been more proud to be anything. Being a woman is my greatest accomplishment. Sharing this womanhood has instilled in me so much joy.
Between #metoo, the women’s march, international women’s day, and literally anything RBG does being a woman has never, ever felt so good.
Here is to every single woman in this world, every woman that has felt slighted, every Me Too, every solidarity in sisterhood, every struggle, every damn obstacle that shouldn’t even exist but that women have overcome. I am so proud of you. I am so proud of us.
I am proud to be a woman.
Happy International Women’s Day.
